Akron announced that the Police Executive Research Forum will lead a review of the city police's use-of-force policy, and coordinate engagement efforts.

The contract for the work is nearly $329,000.

The city said its goal is to have a slate of final recommendations by the end of the first quarter of 2026.

Months after Akron City Council green-lighted a review of the Akron Police Department's use-of-force policies, the details of how that review will be conducted are coming into focus.

The nonprofit Washington-based Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) will conduct the review and lead engagement efforts with officers, community members and other stakeholders.
