MARION, Ill. (KFVS) - In Williamson County, the Marion VA Health Care System hosted a Stand Down for Veterans event on Thursday.

Homeless and low-income veterans were able to access resources like clothing, hygiene products, and nonperishable food.

VA support services and community resources were also available.

VA Public Affairs Officer Todd Wright says it’s important for Veterans in southern Illinois to be remembered, especially when they’re struggling.

“This specific class of veterans that are struggling and in need. It is our mission to be there and support them as best we can,” says Wright.
