CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Ohio’s statewide white-tailed deer archery hunting season begins Saturday and runs through Sunday, Feb. 1, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife.

Hunters can use crossbows, compound bows, recurve bows, and longbows to go after what officials describe as Ohio’s most sought-after wild game and an important food source for families across the state.

Bowhunting’s popularity in Ohio reached new heights during the 2024-25 season, with hunters taking a record 106,269 deer during the archery season. Overall, hunters checked 238,137 deer statewide in 2024-25, marking the fourth-highest total on record.
