LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -An Ingham County judge has ruled the city of Lansing must provide housing solutions for people living at a homeless encampment.

The encampment sits on two private properties on the city’s north side near Dietrich Park. People have been living there for two years.

City leaders sued the two businesses that own the property, claiming the encampment is creating a public safety and health risk.

Prior to this new ruling, the judge ordered the two businesses to provide bathrooms and remove trash at the encampment.

Recently, the city decided to buy 50 temporary housing pods that will give 66 people a place to sleep.
