TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Coy Park in Terre Haute is officially open again after a major makeover.

City leaders and neighbors gathered today for a ribbon cutting to celebrate the improvements. Upgrades include new walking paths, benches, lighting, and landscaping all designed to make the park safer and more welcoming. This project was made possible by a fundraiser launched by the Mayor's Youth Council.

Layla Johnson with the Mayor's Youth Council said they appreciate the community's support.

"It really means a lot to us to have a better future for every kid in Terre Haute and that's what this is for."

The Mayor's Youth Council raised over $40,000 for the renovations.
