CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) -- The city of Conway declared a state of emergency Thursday afternoon in preparation of what could become Tropical Storm Imelda.
The state of emergency was declared at 3:30 p.m., and the city is now operating at OPCON 2, which is an enhanced awareness and elevated state of readiness for a potential disaster, officials said.
"We encourage everyone to stay weather-aware, make preparations, and follow trusted sources for updates," the city said. "As the forecast becomes more certain, we will share additional information regarding city operations."
In its Thursday evening update, the National Hurricane Center gives the storm an 80% chance of forming in the next 48 hours and a 90% chance of forming in the next seven days. Stormtracker13 meteorologist Krista Chang says st
