The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has provided updated plans for the intersection of Lloyd Street and North Street in Nacogdoches. Two weeks ago, officials with TxDOT revealed that they were suspending plans to remove the traffic signal at this intersection, a few blocks north of SFA.

The decision to leave the signal in place was made based on input from Nacogdoches citizens, city officials, and stakeholders. Capital improvement projects, both in progress and planned at Stephen F. Austin State University , were also taken into consideration. Several common themes were apparent in the comments from both sides, including traffic safety, the impact on schools and surrounding businesses, pedestrian safety, and traffic flow.
