BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A man and woman charged in connection with a deadly assault on South Union Avenue made their first court appearance Thursday.

Not guilty pleas were entered on behalf of Danny Simos, 38, who's charged with first-degree murder, and Veronica Archuleta, 42, charged with being an accessory after the fact.

They're due back in court next month. Simos was ordered held without bail, and bail for Archuleta was set at $20,000.

Simos is accused of killing a man whose body was found at about 4:20 a.m. on Sept. 12 in the 2500 block of South Union Avenue.
