Government shutdown averted: Gov. Whitmer, Michigan lawmakers reach budget compromise

Michigan lawmakers have reached a deal to avoid a state shutdown.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s office announced the deal just after 7:15 p.m. Thursday, saying the governor and both chambers have agreed on a 2025-2026 funding plan for schools and state government.
