Keir Starmer is set to announce digital ID cards for all adults in the UK in a bid to tackle illegal migration in a speech on Friday (September 26).

The so-called "BritCards" are not billed as compulsory - but every adult will need one when trying to get a job or rent a home in the UK, meaning they will be effectively mandatory.

The Government said the move 'has the opportunity to build a new piece of civic infrastructure, something that would become a familiar feature of daily life for everyone in the country' by rolling out the ID cards.
