ORANGE Co., Va. (WWBT) - The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services says a horse in Orange County tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV).
That horse was tested after he showed neurological symptoms, was quarantined, and is recovering.
No other horses on the farm were showing symptoms of WNV.
This comes as officials report higher-than-normal positive virus cases, including in Henrico.
So far, there haven’t been any positive cases, but health experts are urging people to use mosquito repellent and to get rid of any standing water where mosquitoes can breed.
