The Islanders announced on Thursday that Hockey Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine will be the 17th inductee into the franchise’s hall of fame on Dec. 13. He will be honored before the Islanders take on the Tampa Bay Lightning at 7 p.m.

LaFontaine had 287 goals and 279 assists in 530 games over eight seasons for the Islanders after being selected third overall in 1983. He will have his name unveiled in the Islanders' Ring of Honor inside UBS Arena. All fans who attend the game will receive a commemorative coin honoring LaFontaine's induction.
