WENATCHEE, Wash. — The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Thursday that remains found near Leavenworth were those of Travis Decker after DNA testing.

Sheriff Mike Morrison said during a press conference that the DNA results confirmed the remains discovered near Grindstone Mountain on Sept. 19 belonged to Decker.

“We can finally bring closure to this dark chapter in Chelan County,” Morrison said.

Morrison said Decker appeared to have succumbed to injuries. He added that the coroner’s office is investigating and will notify the sheriff’s office if a cause and manner of death can be determined.
