PHOENIX, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) has informed 3,177 members of a data breach that took place on Aug. 29. This breach involved misaddressed communications regarding health plan enrollment.
AHCCCS promptly stopped its mailing process after being alerted by a member who received a letter intended for someone else. The breach disclosed limited protected health information, including member names, AHCCCS identification numbers, and health plan names.
However, no Social Security numbers, financial data, or clinical information were affected, according to a news release.
AHCCCS has implemented immediate corrective measures. These include halting the mailing process, conducting a review of the mailing procedures, and notifying affected members wit
