MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A local business based in McAllen has placed second with its Birria Spice mix and won a $15,000 cash prize at the 12th Annual H-E-B's Quest for Texas Best competition.

After being nominated as a finalist in August, the owners of Deli Spices, Sully and Gilberto Villareal, convened in San Antonio for the final judging, where they placed in the top five.
More than 370 products from across the state were entered into this year’s competition, but only 10 of the items made it to the final round.
