ONE person has been taken to hospital and multiple sheep are dead after a livestock truck and freight train crashed in the state's Central West.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 6.45am on Friday, September 26, 2025, after reports that a truck and freight train had collided.

The crash occurred on a level crossing on Mary Gilmore Way near Bribbaree, about 50 kilometres north-west of Young, causing the freight train to derail.

Paramedics attended the scene and assessed two people, the driver and passenger of the truck, which was transporting around 300 sheep at the time.

The driver, a man in his 30s, was assessed but had no injuries, while the passenger, a female in her 20s, had minor injuries to her head, the left side of her body and her left leg.
