CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) - A section of Brookshire Boulevard is closed overnight due to emergency railroad track repairs.
The N.C. Department of Transportation says CSX Railroad crews are fixing a broken rail near the intersection with Lawton Road. The closure began at 9 p.m. Thursday, and is expected to last until 6 a.m. Friday.
Queen City News has reached out to CSX to learn the origin of the rail damage.
Southbound drivers on Brookshire (N.C. 16) will be detoured to Lawton Road, Rozzelles Ferry Road and North Hoskins Road, returning to N.C. 16. Northbound drivers will follow this detour in reverse.
Truck traffic can get around the closure taking Interstate 85 to Freedom Drive (Exit 34) to Fred D. Alexander Boulevard, returning to N.C. 16.
