FARGO — Nebraska-Omaha's Lindsey Birch scored in the 52nd minute and keeper Charlotte Huggard stopped all four shots as the Mavericks claimed a 1-0 win over North Dakota State on Thursday in the Summit League opener for both teams.

Hannah Stipp made three saves for the Bison. Morgan Russman had two shots on goal for NDSU.

Birch's goal came shortly after back-to-back corner kicks for the Mavericks. Omaha had seven corners in the match while NDSU had none.

The Mavericks have not lost to NDSU since February 2021, earning three wins and two ties since that 2-0 loss in Fargo.

NDSU hosts Denver at noon Sunday.
