MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The Mobile Area Water and Sewer System has announced several updates in regard to the Converse Reservoir, otherwise known as Big Creek Lake.

According to a MAWSS press release, the organization intends to release a Request for Proposal, or an RFP, within the next six weeks for a boat rental facility to be operated by a concessionaire.

The proposal, first introduced in April, will keep outside boats from introducing "new invasive species into the water." Renderings of the facility show "piers, a covered pavilion, shore fishing areas, restrooms, and a rental facility."

Additionally, MAWSS hopes to obtain "additional legal backing" for authority over the reservoir through a declaratory judgment filed on Thursday, Sept. 25, through the Montgomery County Circuit Court.
