On Thursday, September 25th, Grand Central Terminal experienced a total blackout roughly around 8:30pm, just a few hours after the evening rush hour commute. At the time of publication, 10:30pm on Thursday, neither the MTA nor NYC Mayor Eric Adams tweeted about the blackout or provided an update on the cause online.

The haunting scene (which you can see for yourself below) looked straight out of a horror movie, but fortunately, the outage only lasted about 30 minutes and commuters were using lights from their cellphones to guide them.

Although transit service wasn’t interrupted and power is now restored, ABC News reported that five people were stuck in an elevator at the time of the outage.
