Langley's Tracey McRobbie says her father Ronald Huckerby talked her into competing in the B.C. 55+ games.
"My dad said, 'well, you were a good swimmer when you were a little girl, why don't you join me at the 55+ BC games?'" McRobbie, a Walnut Grove resident, recalled.
"He's done track and field events since it first started. He's had over 120 medals."
As a result of her parent's suggestion, McRobbie has been competing at the games since 2018.
This year, McRobbie, 63, and her 96-year-old dad, a Maple Ridge resident who competes in track and field, both did well at the 2025 games hosted in Nanaimo Sept. 9-13.
McRobbie won one gold, one silver and two bronze medals and recorded five personal best times.
