Alyssa Milano has gone under the knife to return to her "authentic self."

The "Charmed" alumna, 52, on Sept. 24 shared a photo of herself on Instagram donning a hospital gown and a hairnet, explaining in the caption that she underwent breast implant removal.

"I’m letting go of the body that was sexualized, that was abused, that I believed was necessary for me to be attractive; to be loved; to be successful; to be happy. And in doing so, I hope I am releasing my daughter Bella from ever feeling those same unhealthy demands," she wrote.

She revealed that she's arrived at a place of believing she is "loved, I am feminine, I am attractive, and I am successful" without her breast augmentation.

"There is so much and joy in that knowledge and freedom in letting go of what was never me in the first place," she continued. "Today, I’m my authentic self. Today, I’m free."

The "Elsbeth" actress also clarified that though removal was the best decision for her, she supports people who embrace cosmetic surgery.

"Many women will find freedom and beauty in choosing their implants. What is a false narrative for me may be the exact right thing for them, and I am so happy that we can all find our femininity and peace on our own terms," Milano wrote.

She updated her followers on how the procedure went, sharing that she is "cozy in my bed eating the food my mama made me."

Kylie Jenner, Meghan Trainor, SZA among stars who've spoken out on breast augmentation

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has, in recent years, warned patients about the potential risks of inserting breast implants, which include capsular contracture – scar tissue that squeezes an implant – potential rupture of the implant, cancer of the immune system, and Breast Implant Illness.

Though celebrities such as Kylie Jenner and Meghan Trainor have promoted implants, with the latter emphasizing how the procedure improved her body image, others have been open about undergoing removal due to various mental and physical impacts.

In 2024, SZA said she got her implants removed due to a spike in excess tissue that started growing in her breasts after undergoing augmentation. Denise Richards said she had to get the procedure "redone" after her implants ruptured while doing extreme stunts on the Fox show "Special Forces: World's Toughest Test."

Racecar star Danica Patrick in 2022 revealed that she'd battled years of unexplained health issues, such as hair loss, weight gain, and fatigue, due to Breast Implant Illness.

"It's an indicator that my body was rejecting it over the years," she told "The HypochondriActor" podcast.
