CADDO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — A Caddo man was found guilty after shooting a friend in the head in April of 2024.

Jurors heard testimony from officers and the victim himself about what took place on April 19, 2024.

The victim, Taurus Willis, was sitting in his car when a masked man approached his vehicle.

The man removed his mask to reveal himself, saying, "I told you I was going to get you," before shooting the victim several times.

Behind the mask was Derrick Deone Morris, who shot Willis once in each leg and once in the head.

Morris was found guilty in a unanimous vote by a nine-woman, three-man jury.

He will return to court for sentencing on Oct. 20, 2025. He faces up to 20 years at hard labor, with the possibility of enhanced sentencing as a repeat offender.
