DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Last week, people tied to Minnesota’s Housing Stabilization Services (HSS) program were charged with fraud following an investigation that began in July.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota, the suspects carried out schemes to steal funding from the program.

The alleged fraudsters targeted vulnerable people leaving drug or mental health rehab programs, and signed them up for housing stabilization services.

They would then bill Medicaid, never provide the services, and take the money.
