PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - A man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after he was found guilty of several carjackings and firing a rifle at Portland Police officers in 2024.
Back in September 2024, Portland Police said 25-year-old Jesse James Allen West was involved in a shootout with officers who were trying to arrest him in the Woodlawn neighborhood.
West was wanted in connection to several carjackings earlier that month, according to the Multnomah County DA’s Office.
Prosecutors say West had stolen a car from an 84-year-old man visiting from Texas on Sept. 13, 2024, and used that vehicle to commit several other crimes, including an armed carjacking with an assault rifle and carjacking a woman after crashing into her.
Officers spotted West at a house near NE 17th and NE Bryant St
