PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Police are investigating after finding reports of gunfire near a north Portland park on Thursday afternoon, according to police.
Just after 4 p.m., officers with the Portland Police Bureau responded to Dawson Park at 2949 North Williams Avenue in the Eliot Neighborhood, after callers reported hearing gunshots.
They arrived to find ammunition casings in the street and bullet strikes to the picnic shelter on the west side, but did not find any victims or possible suspects.
Police said they believe the shots came from a car driving by, but have no information at this point about who may have been the target.
Preliminary information suggests that the shots came from a passing vehicle, and the target of the shooter or shooters is unknown.
