An incident in Northwest Washington Wednesday night heightened questions about whether D.C. police continue assisting federal agencies with enforcing immigration detainers.

Video of the encounter posted anonymously on the Washingtonian Problems Instagram account shows police and federal agents detaining a man near 16th and Lamont streets in Columbia Heights.

Residents can be heard chanting “let him go.” The video shows D.C. police as well as federal officers from the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI with some federal agents wearing masks.
