CENTRE – Cherokee County High School senior running back Keyshawn Woods ran for 260 yards on 32 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead the Class 4A, No. 4 Warriors past Class 6A Shades Valley on Thursday by the final of 28-13.

Woods opened the scoring for the Warriors (5-1) on a 19-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Hugh Miller connected on the first of four extra points for a 7-0 lead.

Adam Griffith accounted for the Warriors’ next score on a 65-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Griffith had three carries for 87 yards and a touchdown. He was also 5-of-10 passing for 31 yards.

The Mounties (1-5) countered later in the second on Christian Dooley’s 42-yard touchdown run. The extra point cut the Warrior lead in half at 14-7.
