A man who made deep fake pornographic images of prominent Australian women and posted them to a website has been fined $343,500 by the Federal Court — the first case of its kind in the country.
Antonio Rotondo, also known as Anthony and Tony, was present in the Federal Court of Australia in Brisbane via video link as the civil judgement was handed down by Justice Erin Longbottom on Friday afternoon.
Justice Longbottom found he violated various sections of the Online Safety Act on 14 occasions when he posted deepfake nude images of six different women to a website between November 2022 and October 2023.
