In a major populist move ahead of assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched Bihar’s Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana via video conferencing.
Under the scheme, Rs 10,000 each was directly transferred into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women across the poll-bound state, putting a burden of Rs 7,500 crore on the exchequer.

Speaking at the launch event, Modi praised Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s government for initiating the scheme.
