After two years of operation, the Lake Charles Gumbeaux Gators officially have a new owner who is familiar with the league.

On Sept. 12, Baton Rouge Rougarou Owner Ronnie Rantz purchased his second Texas Collegiate League team, Gumbeaux Gators.

When Visit Lake Charles, the city of Lake Charles and the former ownership group were looking to create the Gumbeaux Gators over two years ago, Rantz was involved in helping walk them through the process of joining the league. At that time, Rantz passed on an opportunity to buy a piece of the team and be a part of the ownership group.

"I think immediately, I sort of regretted that," Rantz said. "I kind of wished I had so I definitely kept tabs the whole time."
