Rick Moranis is ready to put back on the oversized helmet.

“Spaceballs 2,” the planned sequel to the 1987 science-fiction comedy “Spaceballs,” has added a significant piece to the cast after it was announced Thursday that Moranis, 72, is coming out of retirement to reprise his role as Lord Dark Helmet.

Original stars Mel Brooks, Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga and George Wyner already are on board, while Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Lewis Pullman and Anthony Carrigan are newcomers, Variety reports .

Gad also is one of the writers for the sequel, along with Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez, according to the Hollywood Reporter . Josh Greenbaum will direct. It’s scheduled to be released in 2027.
