CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- An in-cusody death early Friday morning is under investigation, the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department reports.
Just after 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 26, CMPD officers stopped a vehicle reportedly without a license plate on Eastway Drive between The Plaza and E. Sugar Creek Road. Officers say they got probable cause to search the vehicle during the traffic stop.
The suspect was taken from his vehicle and put in the back of a patrol vehicle during the search. Officials say he had a medical episode while in the back of the cruiser. Officers gave first aid, and the Mecklenburg EMS Agency (Medic) was called to help.
