CHICAGO (WGN) — Police are searching for answers on Friday morning after a man was found shot to death on the city's West Side overnight.

Authorities were first called to the scene in the 4000 block of West Wilcox Street just after 10 p.m. on Thursday, following a report of a person shot in the area.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found the victim, a 34-year-old man, unresponsive on the sidewalk.

Officers said the victim had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim killed.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the gunfire and an investigation into the shooting is now underway.
