SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) - Former Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright, along with two others, has agreed to plead guilty to federal charges related to the theft of money from the county for personal use, including drugs.
Wright pleaded guilty to three charges including conspiracy to commit theft concerning programs receiving federal funds, wire fraud conspiracy, and obtaining controlled substances by misrepresentation according to documents filed Thursday.
Amos Durham pleaded to conspiracy to commit theft concerning programs receiving federal funds and Lawson Watson pleaded guilty to the conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
The investigation follows allegations of misuse of funds, nepotism, and fraudulent activity.
