STATESBORO, Ga (WSAV) — A man accused of decapitating an ex-girlfriend's dog appeared in the Bulloch County Superior Court Friday.
Kelly Williams, 65, had a preliminary hearing on three charges, felony charges of aggravated cruelty to animals and theft by taking as well as a misdemeanor charge of abandonment of dead animals.
Williams is accused of kidnapping and killing a 4-year-old Boykin Spaniel named Brodie, whose owner, Ginny Smith, called her best friend.
After legal arguments, Judge Ronald Thompson ruled that Williams will stay behind bars for now.
"The court is going to revoke his bond," Thompson said. "It’s pretty apparent the reason why, I believe there’s some mental health issues involved here."
Smith praised the decision after a hard hearing.
