The Chakma-Hajong Referendum was organised as a people-driven initiative to address the long-pending Chakma-Hajong issue that has left generations in uncertainty.

Held at Diyun in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district on Friday, the referendum represented not just an event but the collective voice of a community—calling for justice, peace, and dignity.

“Through this historic step, we wish to show the world that the Chakma-Hajong people of Arunachal Pradesh are determined to seek a permanent, peaceful, and time-bound resolution of the long-pending issue,” said Arunjit Chakma, one of the community leaders.
