BURLINGTON, Ky. (WXIX) - Boone County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a single-vehicle crash that left one man dead and a woman seriously injured Friday morning.

According to Boone County Sheriff spokesman Major Philip Ridgell, the driver, 48-year-old Matthew Combs, was found dead at the scene of the crash.

It happened at the intersection of East Bend Road and Possum Path Road in Burlington at approximately 4:01 a.m.

Combs was driving a 2009 Ford Focus with a 44-year-old woman in the passenger seat. He was heading westbound on East Bend Road when he took a righthand curve, crossed the center line into the opposite lane, exiting the road on the left side, Major Ridgell explained.
