A jury has convicted a Newark man for assaulting his former girlfriend inside her Glen Ridge home, Essex County officials announced.
Jason Blount, 25, was found guilty of multiple offenses, including fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, third-degree criminal restraint, third-degree terroristic threats, and the disorderly persons offense of simple assault.

On September 18, 2025, following a three-day trial, jurors determined that Blount restrained, assaulted, and threatened to kill the victim on October 8, 2023.
