So-called “inflation refund” checks began being delivered to New Yorkers on Friday, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced, an effort to offset high cost of living funded by excess sales tax revenue generated by inflation.

Checks will be mailed directly to eligible New Yorkers, an estimated 8.2 million households, with deliveries to continue throughout October and November.

Joint tax filers with income up to $150,000 will receive a $400 check, over $150,000 but no greater than $300,000 will receive a $300 check. Single tax filers with income up to $75,000 will receive a $200 check. Single filers with incomes between $75,000 and $150,000 will receive a $150 check.
