OAKLAND — Skyline High School in the Oakland hills was placed on lockdown Friday morning after a report that a student brought a gun onto the campus, authorities said.

Initial reports were that a student had been detained but no gun had been recovered as of 9 a.m., authorities said.

Police received a 911 call about 8 a.m. from someone reporting a male student had brought a gun onto the campus, which is at 12250 Skyline Blvd.

Numerous police officers responded to the campus, which was placed on lockdown. The lockdown was still in effect after 9 a.m.

Students who had not yet arrived for the start of classes were staging in a parking lot. A portion of Skyline Boulevard was shut down while the lockdown was in place.
