Police officers have been granted extended powers in part of Oldham after reports of violence last night (Thursday).

There were 'several reports' of 'anti-social behaviour and criminal damage being caused' in the Limeside area, according to Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

As a result, senior officers authorised a Section 60 Order. It gives officers extended authority to stop and search people within a defined area, for a defined period of time.

It was put into place at 7:48pm last night and will remain in force until the same time this evening with extra officers to be patrolling the area.
