CAMBRIA HEIGHTS, Queens (PIX11) --- A person of interest is in police custody after a 13-year-old boy was fatally shot in the head in Queens, according to police sources.

Sanjay Samuel was shot in front of the Dunkin’ Donuts near Springfield and Linden boulevards in Cambria Heights at around 8:20 a.m. on Monday, according to the NYPD.

Sources said the suspect turned himself in with a lawyer on Friday. The charges were pending.

Investigators said the victim was hanging out with a group of other kids outside Dunkin’ Donuts when the suspect showed up on a scooter and got into a shouting match with the group, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said Thursday.

The shooter and Samuel then get into a fist fight before the teen is shot once in the head, police said.
