Roseburg Forest Products is shutting down its hardwood plywood plant in Douglas County immediately, the company said Thursday, putting 107 people out of work.
The privately held Springfield-based company, which has about 2,800 employees, said it was bowing out of a hardwood plywood market now dominated by low-cost imports.
"The company's decision to exit reflects a disciplined approach to long-term competitiveness and product alignment," it said in a new release.
The shuttered operation was part a Roseburg plywood facility in Dillard that dates back to 1952. Other operations at Dillard will continue, the company said
