ROCK HILL, S.C. (WBTV) - A high school student died after he was shot with a stolen gun at a York County apartment on Thursday.

The Sept. 25 shooting happened just before 1 p.m. along Springsteen Road in Rock Hill.

said the gun used in the deadly shooting was stolen from a vehicle by a 15-year-old.

Police said the 15-year-old and 14-year-old Braylen Jackson were inside the apartment when the 15-year-old was “manipulating and mishandling” the gun, which led to the fatal shot being fired.

The 15-year-old was arrested after Jackson was shot, and was charged with the following offenses:

Involuntary manslaughter

Breaking into a vehicle

Possession of a stolen handgun

Possession of a handgun by a person under 18 years old
