Lansing — The decision by the American Bar Association to place Lansing's Cooley Law School on probation for failing to meet the required percentage of students passing the bar exam was "surprising," Cooley President James McGrath said Friday.
The ABA requires that at least 75% of a law school’s graduates in a calendar year who sat for a bar exam must have passed a bar exam administered within two years of their graduation date. The ABA said Cooley did not meet these requirements, a finding that McGrath disputed.
