LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — The Las Vegas man accused in a deadly Midtown Manhattan shooting had Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, a medical exam confirmed Friday.

The New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner released the information in a statement after a neuropathological examination for Shane Tamura . The 27-year-old is accused of killing four people before taking his own life on July 28.

Neuropathology experts said they found “unambiguous diagnostic evidence” of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, or CTE, in the brain tissue of Tamura. It was classified as “low-stage CTE.”

Experts say CTE may be found in the brain of those with a history of repeated exposure to head trauma.
