MCDADE, Texas — The " Friday night lights " have gone out for McDade ISD.
The district's athletic director announced on social media this week that this year's varsity football season is canceled.
"This decision was not made lightly and come after careful consideration of various factors impacting the team's ability to safely and effectively compete this year," Athletic Director Jonathan Wells said in a statement. "We understand how disappointing this is for our players, coaches, and supporters, and we appreciate everyone's dedication and hard work leading up to this point."
