Jimmy Kimmel delivers the opening monologue during the 96th Oscars at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles on March 10, 2024.

If you have an ABC affiliate that's under Sinclair Broadcast Group, you haven't been able to see Jimmy Kimmel Live recently. But that's about to change.

Kimmel returned to the air on Tuesday -- to much attention, as expected -- after a suspension due to comments he made about the late Charlie Kirk. But Sinclair waited and continued to pre-empt the show, with initial demands for Kimmel to donate to Kirk's family and to Turning Point USA.

So why is Sinclair changing its mind? Per the statement you can read in full below, the company had "received thoughtful feedback from viewers, advertisers and community leaders representing a wide range of perspectives."

According to reporting from the Columbia Journalism Review, ABC affiliates owned by Sinclair had "phones... ringing off the hook." with complaints about Kimmel being pre-empted.
