EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — An Evansville Police Officer who was shot twice in the line of duty is being released from the hospital in Evansville.
According to the FOP Lodge #73, Officer Sam Taylor is being transported from Deaconess Midtown Hospital to the Evansville Regional Airport on Friday afternoon.
From the airport, Officer Taylor will be flown to another city to begin his rehabilitation journey.
The community is being encouraged to line the route from the hospital to the airport to show love and support for Officer Taylor.
As of about 3 p.m., Officer Taylor had departed from the hospital. Officers will travel east on Columbia Street to US Highway 41.
